Marketing Resources
Marketing commodities is vital for farmers as it enhances their economic sustainability while addressing soil health challenges. These commodities are produced using practices that improve soil health and increase resilience. By marketing their new commodity channels effectively, farmers can access premium markets, secure better prices, and meet growing consumer demand for sustainably produced goods. This not only boosts their income but also promotes long-term agricultural sustainability.
Farmers may have one or more of the following goals in marketing their commodities and practices. Clarifying these goals will help farmers make more informed decisions about future marketing efforts, which include:
Selling more product
Diversifying buyers (restaurants, processors, retailers, distributors, etc.)
Providing educational content on climate smart practices and/or commodities
Generating leads in-person through networking events, farmers markets, educational tours, agricultural associations and fairs
Better utilizing what already exists in their network—do what they’re doing, but better
Farmer-First Verify Badge
Once a farmer completes their annual verifications they will unlock the Farmer-First badge and will be able to use it in marketing efforts. The badge provides assurance that farmers:
(1) used agricultural conservation practices according to a standard, verified by a third party;
(2) the resulting crops produced are verifiably Farmer-First; and
(3) evidence of the implementation of such practices can be identified via public blockchain record.
Farmers can use the badge on field-level signs, business cards, product labels, websites, social marketing campaigns, and much more!
